Volunteers who have left SCORE (Resigned) and would like to return do NOT need to reapply. They simply need to contact the Chapter Chair/Co-Chair (or Vice Chair in lieu of Chapter Chairs) for approval to rejoin. If the Chair approves, they must notify the SCORE Support Team (help@score.org) for reinstatement of their SCORE accounts. Please follow the below processes according to their situation:
-
Volunteers who moved to Resigned Status
-
The Support Team at help@score.org must reinstate volunteers from resigned status as they must reactivate their SCORE accounts (email, Engage login, etc.).
- If a volunteer was moved to Resigned status by mistake, please notify help@score.org within 5 business days of the change. This will allow us to reinstate the volunteer with no additional requirements.
- The Chapter Chair must approve this reinstatement. If the Chapter Chair is not available, Co-Chairs, Vice Chairs, or VIC may request this change. The Support Team will include all local leaders and the District Director on the confirmation of this request when the Chapter Chair is not available.
- If they became Active AFTER January 1, 2017 – In order to return they must have completed all requirements including SCORE Training Modules 001, 002, 003, 004 (for current year), 005, 006, 007, and 008. If they were not a Mentor classification before being dropped, and want to be, they must complete all requirements for a Mentor classification as outlined in the SCORE Onboarding Checklist. If they do not complete these requirements, they will be changed to Terminated Status (Engage) and not be allowed to re-apply.
- For Volunteers who originally became Members BEFORE January 1, 2017 – In order to return they must have completed, at a minimum, SCORE Training Modules 004 (for current year), 007, and 008. If they were not a Mentor classification before being dropped, and want to be, they must complete all requirements for a Mentor classification as outlined in the SCORE Onboarding Checklist. If they do not complete these requirements and remain Active, they will be changed to Terminated Status (in Engage) and not be allowed to re-apply.
-
If the resignation is due to not completing the Code of Ethics course only, the Support Team at help@score.org can move these volunteers back to Inactive status and give them 48 hours to complete the code of ethics.
- After 48 hours, if the COE is still not complete, they must be resigned again. If the volunteer needs more than 48 hours (ie. a week or 2) the Helpdesk Escalation Team can approve this. It is important that volunteers complete the current year COE before actively volunteering or mentoring. [The SCORE Field Operations team runs a report quarterly to ensure compliance, that there are no active volunteers that have not completed SCORE's Code of Ethics.
- Once COE is completed for the current year, the Chapter VIC or Chapter Manager can move the volunteer to Active Status.

-
Provisional Volunteers that moved to Inactive
-
If they request to rejoin SCORE then the chapter VIC can approve them back to Provisional status. They do NOT need to submit a new application.
- The 90 day provisional timeframe restarts
- The volunteer picks up the onboarding process where they left off
- 004 Code of Ethics training must be completed for the current year before they can become Active
- After 90 days or 180 with extension if they have not completed the onboarding they will be moved back to Inactive status
-
If they request to rejoin SCORE then the chapter VIC can approve them back to Provisional status. They do NOT need to submit a new application.
-
Terminated Volunteers
- These volunteers should not be approved to come back as they were dismissed for cause, unless they were terminated in error
When a Volunteer Moves to Another Chapter
When a volunteer moves to another chapter, they should reach out to the new chapter first to be added as a new affiliation. Volunteers do not need to fill out another Volunteer Application when moving to another chapter. When the Chapter Manager adds the new affiliation (Add a New Chapter Affiliation) then, they can set the originating chapter affiliation as Former and set the new chapter as Current and as Primary Chapter. The BIRT Report for Volunteer Roster will not show the change immediately as this report requires up to 24 hours to sync with the change in Engage.
