The SCORE Association is required to report on services provided to the small business community and the contributions made by SCORE volunteers. To effectively report our activity and impact to our stakeholders (Congress, the Small Business Administration (SBA) – the federal entity that administers SCORE’s federal grant -- as well as all corporate and community sponsors nationally and locally), all chapters are required to record all client and volunteer activity associated with clients. This information is used in funding requests, planning and budget allocation.
Client Service Notes:
- SCORE is obligated to mentor all legal businesses, but individual volunteers may request to not mentor a specific business in which there is a moral conflict.
- Federal laws prevent SCORE from mentoring any client whose business is illegal or criminal. Included are businesses that derive more than one-third of their gross annual revenue from legal gambling activities and businesses that present live performances of a prurient nature or derives more than a de minimus amount of revenue from the sale of products or services of a prurient nature
- Businesses whose products are legal, but may be used by another business in an illicit manner, are still legal businesses (example: a business that produces a product then used to produce marijuana). SCORE cannot mentor the marijuana grower or distributer but can mentor a business that produced a fertilizer used by others to grow marijuana. Click here for more information.
SCORE’s reporting systems were developed to provide accurate information, reports, and statistics about our membership, client service activities, and other management metrics needed to operate SCORE on a daily basis.
SCORE data is available to all SCORE volunteers in our reporting systems. A full and accurate picture of SCORE’s activity is dependent on timely and accurate reporting from all chapters. All chapters and volunteers are required to comply with the reporting of all client activity, volunteer information, and chapter operational information in SCORE'S CRM system.
