Instructions for Completing
Administrative Assistant Job Description
SCORE’s mission is to Foster Vibrant Small Business Communities through Mentoring and Education. The attached Administrative Assistant Job Description Template was developed to assist local chapters with the definition and documentation of administrative roles that are required for their chapters. The template is to be completed by the chapter leadership and used to guide the duties of the chapter administrative person.
These two documents are intended to aid chapter leadership with planning and maintenance of the chapter. The job description is intended to be used for a paid administrative person, but any administrative duties or tasks that will be performed by volunteers are to be encouraged and commended.
To update the template:
- Identify the following:
- Position title
- Chapter or District, location/address and Number
- Hourly rate/salary
- Travel required (in-office or remote/no travel)
- Position type IF different from the default (part time contractor)
- Add any activities/tasks that need to be included to fit your chapter’s needs under ‘Duties’ in bulleted list.
- Optionally use the "Potential List of Administrative Duties" to add tasks to the job description, to add as an appendix to the job description with the relevant tasks checked, to delete all tasks not required and attach as an appendix, or to not use it at all.
Keep in mind that an Administrative Assistant should never be entering session data for mentors or be allowed to manage, have access to, or spend chapter funds. Their job is to assist Chapter or District Leadership, not perform the strategic planning or other leadership functions. Leadership responsibility for administrative oversight remains at the discretion of each District or Chapter.
After you complete the job description, please send a copy to Stephanie Pasche, Director of Field Operations at SCORE HQ, and Ashley Johnson (ajohnson@thepanthergroup.com), Client Relationship Coordinator with The Panther Group.
