Summary of Position:
The Regional Directors (RDs), if utilized, are key Volunteer Leadership roles serving as functional, operational, and strategic leadership support to the Regional Vice President (RVP). The RDs support the RVP in providing leadership and implementing strategic direction for the regions, district, and chapter leaders. These roles are essential in ensuring operational excellence, fostering collaboration, and supporting the successful implementation of plans and initiatives within the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Mentoring
- Assist the RVP in providing leadership mentoring to chapter and district leaders.
- Support the identification and development of future leaders, including potential next RDs, District Directors (DDs), and Chapter Chairs (CCs).
- Collaborate with the RVP to drive change and innovation within the region.
- Lead by example, adhering to SCORE mentor minimum expectations.
Collaboration and Communication
- Support the RVP in encouraging collaboration and a culture of inclusion within and across districts and chapters.
- Assist in maintaining effective communication between regional volunteers and HQ.
- Help facilitate relationships with the SBA and other community partners.
- Support the dissemination of consistent messaging from HQ on strategy, processes, and policies.
- Engage with leaders and volunteers through calls or in-person visits across the region.
Accountability and Performance Management
- Support the implementation of plans for districts and chapters in line with organizational strategy.
- Assist in monitoring and reviewing district performance, gathering innovations and successes to share.
- Work alongside the RVP in the volunteer conflict resolution process when appropriate.
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Contribute to the development and implementation of operational policies and strategies.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with SCORE Policies and Procedures.
- Partner with the Regional Operations Coordinator to help prepare regular status reports on progress and risks for prioritized efforts.
Operational Excellence
- Support the RVP in driving operational excellence by optimizing processes and ensuring efficiency.
- Assist in leading projects and initiatives, working closely with senior leadership. The RDs are given specific assignments/projects by the RVP to assist in this way.
- Contribute to identifying innovative solutions to improve operational efficiencies.
The Regional Directors support the RVP to ensure the successful operation and growth of the region, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, and maintaining alignment with the organization's overall strategy and goals.
RD Roles may be divided up by operational functions (based on team skills and region needs) such as:
- Regional Advisor - focused on strategy and planning, leadership development/mentoring, culture alignment, and consistent approach.
- Community Engagement - regional operations for building and maintaining relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
- Client Engagement - regional operations enhancing the client experience and ensuring effective service delivery.
- Volunteer Engagement - focuses on recruiting, developing, and retaining volunteers across the region.
- Culture of Inclusion - regional Ambassador and strategic leader.
- Education & Workshops - leads Regional Workshop Committee
