What is the Volunteer Recognition and Appreciation Hub?
Purpose
The Volunteer Recognition and Appreciation Hub is a central place where volunteers and chapter leaders can check out ideas, examples, and resources related to improving recognition and appreciation for volunteers in their chapter.
At SCORE HQ, we recognize that there is not a one size fits all approach to the recognition and appreciation of our volunteers. Each chapter will have unique methods of providing recognition and showing appreciation that will be the most genuine for their volunteers. The purpose of the Hub is to provide inspiration on what can be done to recognize volunteers locally, and the resources to help make it happen. Our goal is that chapter leaders reference the Hub, use the resources available, and tailor what they've received to fit the needs of their specific chapter.
Importance of Providing Recognition and Expressing Appreciation
Volunteers are the lifeblood of SCORE, and it is imperative that they are fully engaged with the organization. A huge part of ensuring that engagement is making sure that volunteers are both recognized for the work they do that changes lives and impacts communities, as well as appreciated for the sacrifices they make and the efforts they give to the organization overall.
SCORE HQ has a responsibility to provide recognition and express appreciation as much as possible, but the efforts at the local chapter level are what will be most effective for our volunteers. Chapter leaders know their volunteers best - they know the amazing work that is being done at the local level AND what their volunteers would find most valuable from a recognition or appreciation perspective. Not every chapter will have a large, formal program, but every chapter should be finding ways to provide recognition and express appreciation to their volunteers on a regular basis.
