Chapter Liability Insurance Policy
SCORE’S general liability policy covers all of the chapter, districts, and regions.
Chapters operating in offices may be required to carry liability insurance per the lease/landlord requests, and/or to meet the requirements of other organizations who have requested a certificate of insurance to cover a SCORE activity. SCORE chapters and/or branches often lease o ruse space at commercial or institutional facilities – for example, a chamber of commerce, library, church, bank, or other publicly-or privately-owned building. Landlords or owners of these properties may ask for a certificate of insurance from the chapter.
They want to know that they are protected if a claim arises from a party injured during a SCORE function.
All Chapters participate in SCORE’s chapter-liability insurance policy. The SCORE National Office
administers an annual liability insurance policy. The policy year follows SCORE’s fiscal year, October 1st thru September 30th.
SCORE chapters cannot agree to hold a landlord harmless.
If a landlord or host of a location requests proof of insurance because the chapter occasionally uses the property for SCORE related business, a chapter should ask to be added to the landlord’s policy. The cost should be nominal to the chapter because the space and the time would both be limited.
