Demo Pros LLC
. . . leaving 'dust' in the rear view window
My successes.
Demo Pros LLC has become a reality instead of just a dream. I highly recommend SCORE for anyone who is starting or owns a business.
What do you do?
We put a stop to harmful silica dust!
Commercial and residential demolitions are known to produce hazardous silica debris. Silica is a common component of construction material that's good for sturdy structures but dangerous to breathe in. When you need an interior demolition, it's important to choose a company that uses dust-free methods. Demo Pros can prevent silica particles from lingering in your house and causing health issues later on. We use specialized equipment to eliminate dust at its source and keep it from blowing around.
What inspired you to start your business?
I had been working in demolition for several years and knew there were better ways to deliver that service. As I watched the way my bosses treated customers, and realized the huge differences in how customers were treated, I knew I wanted to make it so much better. Thus, planted the seeds of creating my own business.
What's special about your business?
We strive hard to do the best job possible, to treat our customers with the utmost respect, and to ensure the results will likely cause our customers to recommend us to their friends.
What have been the high and low points of being a business owner?
It was difficult moving 1,000 miles away from everything I had known in California. Harder yet, to start and operate a business while I was working a regular full-time job.
I would not be where I am today, a proud owner/operator of Demo Pros LLC, without the help and guidance from SCORE and the counselor they provided me.
What have you learned from your experiences as a business owner?
Knowing the “how” of something is important. Knowing the “why” of something is vital to understanding it. This is what my SCORE mentor Rick Sanders taught me in relation to business: the “Why.” Rick would provide me with “homework:” tasks to help build my knowledge and way of thinking. He would never give me a direct answer, but instead, lead me to find that answer by teaching me why. His resources, knowledge, and the caring he has for those seeking help made him and SCORE invaluable.
What is your relationship with SCORE?
SCORE client
What influenced you to seek help from SCORE?
I had a friend who mentioned SCORE. Admittedly, I didn't have a lot of expectations. But I did reach out and the rest is a history of incredible help and support.
How SCORE helped.
Rick and I meet biweekly to discuss and brainstorm everything from building and manipulating spreadsheets, profit and loss statements, set and variable expenses, target groups and markets, marketing strategies, accounting and taxes, and overall, what it takes to be successful in business.
What's great about my mentor?
From the first time I spoke with Rick via Zoom, he was excited, enthused, and readily willing to help guide me to the answers I sought. This included answers to many questions I didn’t know to ask. From that first day, I was able to conclude one thing for sure, Rick Sanders and his associates at SCORE love what they do, and that makes such an impact on those they do it for.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting a small business?
From the mentor SCORE provided me, the hours and hours of listening and providing suggestions, the online classes and workshops, and more, SCORE has played a vital part of Demo Pros LLC becoming a reality instead of a dream. I highly recommend SCORE for anyone who is starting or owns a business.
What would you tell a fellow business owner about SCORE?
It took over a year to finally shake the hand of the man that helped me achieve my goal. Due to COVID-19, all of our meetings were done through zoom and yet, SCORE was always there to answers my questions, to provide me the help and resources to continue my education and grow as a businessman and a person.
