The Membership Chair is a critical volunteer member of the Chapter Leadership Team and is responsible for managing chapter rosters and assisting with ongoing volunteer engagement, inclusion, development, and recruiting activities. This role is crucial for maintaining an active and engaged membership within the chapter.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for all things related to Membership, including, but not limited to:
- Recruiting and outreach efforts, developing strategies to attract new members, and collaborating across the chapter’s leadership team (e.g., marketing, outreach, and/or community development).
- Promote SCORE’s benefits to potential members.
- Organizes and participates in events or campaigns to increase membership.
- Utilizes the SCORE recruitment toolkit- resources the chapter can use to recruit qualified volunteers across multiple marketing channels
- Implement local components of onboarding
- Partner with Regional Volunteer Intake Coordinator (RVIC) to achieve shared goals
- Identify coaches, interviewers, and co mentors specifically provisional members, and communicate regularly with them about their efforts
- In conjunction with the Chapter Chair and coach, determines when a provisional member is not a fit, and informs the RVIC when that is the case
- Reach out to Provisional Mentors to welcome and encourage involvement in the chapter.
- Maintains an up-to-date roster of members including contact information, profiles, and membership status, as reflected in the BIRT report and ENGAGE system.
- Fosters a positive experience for members to encourage continued participation
- Organizes events and events that engage current members.
- Addresses member concerns or issues promptly and effectively.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for membership inquiries.
- Maintains regular communication with members through newsletters, emails, or meetings, keeping them informed about upcoming events, initiatives, and organizational updates.
- Recognizes and celebrates tenured and active members, highlighting their contributions and organizing recognition/appreciation events.
- Ensures an ongoing cycle of member development (facilitates planning and ongoing implementation)
