Summary of Position:
The Vice Chair plays a critical role in supporting the Chapter Chair by assisting with leadership duties, stepping in for the Chair when needed and ensuring the smooth functioning of the Chapter. A successor to the Chapter Chair role, the Chapter Vice Chair’s focus is primarily internal on Chapter operations and partners/collaborates with the Chapter Chair on workload, specific projects, planning, etc. This role also often steps in to fill Chapter leadership gaps when they arise until a new leader is determined by the Chapter Chair.
Essential Functions:
- Supports the Chapter Chair in executing their duties and responsibilities.
- Collaborates with the Chapter Chair in setting meeting agendas, goals and priorities.
- Serve as a sounding board for ideas and strategies.
- Preside over meetings and represent SCORE when the Chapter Chair is unavailable.
- Ensure continuity of leadership by assuming the Chapter Chair role, when the current Chapter Chair’s tenure is completed.
- Acts as a liaison between the Chair and Chapter membership to ensure effective communication.
- Assists in resolving issues, facilitating collaboration and ensuring progress towards objectives.
- Monitors progress on goals and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Works with the Chapter Leadership Team to maintain a positive, engaging, and inclusive culture within the Chapter.
- Assists in tracking progress on key initiatives or projects.
- Support other leaders, members and committees as needed.
- Other duties assigned by the Chapter Chair to support achievement of the Chapter Annual Operating Plan.
