Email mentoring is another option providing our clients support. Clients may prefer email mentoring because they prefer online versus face-to-face, or they may not be able to travel. Additionally, a client may be looking for a specific expertise that is not available locally. This presentation provides the guidance for quality email mentoring.
What counts as an email mentoring session?
The initial mentoring case or session must be at least 30 minutes or more in length to be reported as a case, including preparation time.
There is no time requirement for subsequent visits (follow-ons).
For email sessions, the content must be substantiative. Providing useful information and/or follow up with the client on specific questions they have coming from the prior sessions
If you would bill for it as a consultant, then it should be recorded as a session. Forwarding on marketing emails, scheduling subsequent meetings, or referring the client to another resource (chapter, website, etc.) would not count.
