Woman-and-minority-owned company, Future Fit Foods, launches Suppas™, a new generation of instantly fresh plant-based mini meals, with the help of the Small Business Administration (SBA) SCORE mentoring program out of Denver, Colorado.
LONGMONT, Colorado, August 5th, 2021 – Future Fit Foods LLC. has launched a new line of instantly fresh plant-based soups called SUPPAS™ designed to meet customers where they are at delivering a bundle of taste, plant-based nutrition, and planet resilience into everyday convenience mini-meals.
Future Fit Foods was created to redesign the linear food system and inspire the current food industry to change through unique food and packaging solutions. The Longmont-based company designs its food products to promote positive impacts related to dignifying humanity, promoting well-being, and playing a positive role in transitioning the current linear food system into a circular system right through the value chain including how the company sources its organic and non-GMO ingredients, makes its foods, packages, and delivers to the final customers.
When Co-Founder and CEO, Paloma Lopez, arrived at Boulder in February of 2020 to kick off the food development of her new line of mini meals, little did she know that COVID would disrupt the development of her new business. Encouraged by her Co-Founder and Partner, Sean Ansett, Paloma reached out to the SBA SCORE’ chapter in Denver soon after arriving in the Boulder are to seek mentorship. Paloma was quickly assigned to work with Jay, a retired successful business owner and avid tennis player from the Boulder area who would quickly become an important advisor and friend to Paloma and Future Fit Foods.
The soup category is one of the sleepiest online or in-store. Many convenient soup and noodle products in the marketplace deliver poor nutrition, lack important fiber, and are high in calories and salt. Many packaged soups are also water based which means that a lot of water is being shipped around the country. As far as packaging innovations in the category, there is a big push for single-use cups, the majority of which are non-recyclable or compostable.
SUPPAS™, Future Fit Food’s first branded product line started shipping to customers earlier this month of August. SUPPAS™ are designed with people and the planet in mind, to be high in nutrients and low in calories and salt.
“We are very excited to launch our first line of sustainable instantly fresh plant-based soups bringing our community nutrition, transparency and new food packaging solutions. We could have not gotten this far without the incredible support of the SBA SCORE mentoring program and my SCORE mentor’s incredible support with the financial aspects of building a new business” says Paloma Lopez, CEO and Co-Founder of Future Fit Foods LLC.
Suppas™ helps address the current fiber gap in American diets which is so important to supporting healthy inner biomes, while it also uses lower salt levels than most packaged soups and noodles while delivering on a rich umami flavor. Suppas™ utilizes an ancient Incan preservation technique that locks in most nutrients and originates as a freshly cooked soup.
Suppas™ are lightweight for shipping and carrying it with you. Its pouches use materials made from industrial compostable materials with high barrier properties to preserve food and help avoid excess food waste. Suppas™ is also working on providing its customers the option of delivering these limited number of soups via Repack, a reusable shipping packaging solution that replaces the standard shipping box and can be used many times to reduce CO2 by up to 85% over the life of the shipping pack.
The three limited number of flavors released today were inspired by past backpacking trips delivering a unique eating experience and a burst of instantly fresh flavor.
Southern Soul- This Suppa leads with a light-touch smokey flavor and features organic black-eyed peas, organic collard greens, and organic sweet potatoes.
Spice Route- This well-balanced not overly spicey Suppa features carefully selected organic adzuki beans, organic shitake mushrooms, and organic lemongrass.
