For businesses that intend to train and upskill low-wage workers age 50+, the Association of Women’s Business Centers (AWBC) is facilitating a grant program that will reimburse employers up to $2,500 per employee for training.
This grant, funded by the AARP Foundation, will reimburse small businesses (even non-profits) up to $2,000 for their training expenses (can include the wages paid to employees during training) as long as the employee starts at $16/hour or less and the employer will demonstrate increasing their pay by $2/hour after the training.
BONUS: if they are able to increase the pay by $2.50 per hour, they are eligible for reimbursement of $2,500 in expenses per employee.
