Email marketing requires careful planning, and as we look ahead to 2021, now is a great time to review your marketing calendar and start drafting your schedule for emails to send out over for the next few months.
Plan Your Email Calendar
While developing your calendar, be sure to respect your subscribers’ inboxes and not overload them with too many emails. Research repeatedly shows that too many emails are counterproductive. Strive for 2 emails per week on average at most.
Some emails you can consider including in your regular email marketing:
- Monthly Workshop-At-A-Glance Promotion
- SCORE BizSuccess Tips (Add your local workshop and information to personalize it for your chapter audience)
- Individual Workshop Emails: Promotion and Follow-up Emails
- Special monthly emails from SCORE National. Example: January is National Mentoring Month and two emails will be provided for your use.
Who Will Receive Each Email?
Do you send all your emails to your entire list? Does your email sign-up form offer any list options? As you develop your calendar, consider how you might be able to segment some of the emails to avoid overwhelming your subscribers, and to ensure they are receiving the content that they want. We will discuss various ways to do that in upcoming issues of Marketing Minute.
