In January, 2017, Charlotte Sheppard contacted SCORE for assistance. Three years prior, she had completed a 28-year career in the U.S. Army and had retired as a Sergeant First Class. Prior to separating from the Army, she entered law school. By July 2016, she had completed law school and was awaiting the results of the NC Bar. Through the process of law school, Ms. Sheppard realized that her real passion was to help people, so she felt that her talents as an attorney would be best used as a real estate agent, where she could advise clients on the legal side of the transactions as well serve as the agent. When she came to SCORE, she had already affiliated with Keller Williams in Hendersonville, NC and opened her own law firm, Sheppard Law, PLLC.
SCORE was able to help Ms. Sheppard through several sessions. The primary areas of focus were marketing her real estate business and mentoring her as a sole practitioner in her law firm. During the various sessions, Ms. Sheppard met with Bill Kerns, Bruce Hunt and attorney Mike Frye. SCORE has helped with her business cards, broad approaches to real estate management, and mentoring her as she assisted some of her very first legal clients.
Since that time, Ms. Sheppard has been very successful as a real estate agent and is also an active and energetic member of the Hendersonville community. She has served on several boards in Henderson County and is currently on the board of the Blue Ridge Humane Society.
