SCORE Cleveland Partners with Grafton Correctional Institution to Empower Inmates through Business Workshops - Novel Program Exemplifies the Power of Community Collaboration in Creating Positive Change and Providing Second Chances
CLEVELAND, OH – July 25, 2024 – The Cleveland chapter of SCORE is proud to announce a unique and impactful partnership with the Grafton Correctional Institution. This initiative will bring a series of six comprehensive business workshops to inmates at the facility, designed to equip them with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge over a six-week period, beginning July 11th. The workshops aim to foster a sense of empowerment and provide inmates with the tools needed to successfully reintegrate into society upon release.
The six workshops include:
- So, You Want to Start Your Own Business
- Business Planning/Journey to Entrepreneurship
- How to Make More Money in Your Business
- Practice Making Financial Decisions
- Marketing Basics
- Funding Sources
John Heston, a SCORE-certified small business mentor and a workshop presenter, emphasized the significance of this initiative: ‘’At SCORE, we believe in the transformative power of entrepreneurship. By providing these workshops to the inmates at Grafton Correctional Institution, we aim to give them a second chance and the opportunity to build a brighter future. Our goal is to inspire and empower these individuals to realize their potential and contribute positively to their communities.’’
