SCORE Southwest Missouri partnered with United for Greatness United Way of the Ozarks and The Great Game of Business to host two days of workshops titled United for Greatness. These workshops paired non-profit agencies with SCORE volunteers and Great Game of Business coaches. Volunteers consulted with these non-profits to skill build, work towards their professional goals, and expand their capacity. The non-profits who attended include CASA of Southwest Missouri, Good Dads, Betty and Bobby Allison Ozarks Counselling Center, Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, Victim Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, Council of Churches of the Ozarks, Harmony House, City of Springfield, and United Way of the Ozarks. Each organization required different skills from volunteers from marketing and social media to legal compliance and departmental organization.
The event was reported on by the Springfield Daily Citizen. In the article, Greg Burris, the Chief Executive Officer of United Ways of the Ozarks said, "Nonprofits 'need these highly skilled volunteers who come in and act as coaches and topic experts to help move the ball on what is potentially their gnarliest problem...our job was just to kind of provide the opportunity and the fertile ground for those kind of relationships to bloom'". You can read the full article here. Over 70 community volunteers attended the event, providing 450 hours of consulting valued at over $100,000.
Due to the success of the event the SCORE Southwest Missouri chapter is already preparing for this event next year! Congratulations to SCORE Southwest Missouri on a successful, impactful event!
