SCORE LI starts free mentorship program for $1-$10M firms
By: Adina Genn April 22, 2021
Businesses in Nassau and Suffolk counties with sales of $1 to $10 million can now access free guidance through SCORE Long Island, an affiliate of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The program was announced this week by Leonard Buchholtz, chapter chairman of SCORE Long Island, and comes a time when small businesses continue to struggle amid the COVID-19 crisis.
With a new campaign, the 46-volunteer-member organization is now “accelerating its focus to help mentor” these local companies, according to SCORE Long Island. The program aims to reach “ top-level management of thousands of businesses” who would appreciate the guidance of seasoned professionals with proven track records, free of charge.
SCORE mentors have expertise in sales and marketing, finance, manufacturing, computer systems, general management, computer systems and more.
Executives working with SCORE are assigned a mentor, with whom they meet either online or in-person for in-depth discussion. Through a SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat) analysis , mentoring needs are identified, and the appropriate SCORE mentors are aligned to assist. SCORE then provides a plan, and the mentors are available for support as needed in addressing the identified challenges.
To reach C-suite executives about this new program, SCORE’s campaign will include a LinkedIn program, Google Ads Grant of $10K per month, weekly emails, speaking engagements to Long Island business organizations, seminars, webinars, and public relations.
More information about the program, and its mentors, is available here.
