Cappy’s Farm Fresh Food offers allergy-conscious takeaway treats

SCORE client Catherine Waite (former engineer who shifted to fresh food), creates allergen friendly health meals and health snacks for people on the move. After her own diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, Waite recognized a major gap in the culinary world for food that fits all dietary needs. Cappy's products contain no nuts, soy, dairy or gluten. Wait has been expanding her product line and business through farm market sales, and next plans to go wholesale! 

Catherine's SCORE Mentor is Frank Lipari of SCORE SC Lowcountry. Frank says of Catherine:

She is a skilled engineer who knew nothing about food processing and running a complicated business. She has used those disciplines to her advantage and is such a quick learner and motivated person following her dream. It was fortunate we connected because of my consumer product background.

Catherine shared with us her experience with SCORE and Frank's dedicated mentorship:

I have been working with SCORE since the beginning of my journey as an entrepreneur just over a year ago.  I was paired with the perfect mentor for not only my business but, my personality.  The no nonsense, straightforward, meticulously organized, Frank Lipari and I set out on a journey to test my limits.  Frank has helped me tackle business not as just an entrepreneur but, one during a pandemic.  SCORE has provided many useful classes both online and in person to help me set up my business, understand cost evaluation, what tools are available and provide resources when necessary.  SCORE has connected me with amazing opportunities including loan and grant options.  The market research phase has been interesting full of ups and downs and it was wonderful to have SCORE on my side during difficult decisions to bounce ideas off of and discuss my options.  If one mentor does not have all of the information, they are able to go back and consult their team to find out what you need to know.  I am excited to continue my journey with SCORE tracking my progress and watching my growth.  I am thankful for the professionals that take the time to allow people like myself the opportunity to see their dreams come to fruition.
